I’ve wanted a cartoon image of myself for my website for a while now. So, when I came across CartoonMe.com I figured there wasn’t much to lose for $3.
Check out the results.

All I had to do was send a picture and the next day I received my cartoon. Notice I wasn’t wearing a purple shirt though! Never!

Many have been trying to predict what effect social bookmarks would have on search. Yahoo acquired del.icio.us peaking some interest and now Google has released some insite into how Google Bookmarks will influence search.
When you’re signed in to Google Accounts, you’ll now get more relevant, useful search results, recommendations and other personalized features. For example, if you use Google Bookmarks or Google Search History, you’ll get more targeted web search results and recommendations for videos or gadgets. You can easily access these recommendations by adding the “Interesting Items” gadget directly to your personalized homepage.
Read it for yourself on Google Help.

Do you run any software that you’ve used for years? Most likely 10 better solutions have come out since you installed the stuff, but you just never get around to replacing it.
Pixie is one of my oldies, but goodies. I use it to mouse over colors to get hex & rgb info.
Feel free to share your own blasts from the past.

I’m a fan of the Daily Searchcast with Danny Sullivan, but I have a gripe. IT’S NOT DAILY!
Oh, and while I’m in the mood to complain please prohibit Bruce Clay from advertising more than once a year on the podcast. Their ads nearly explode my speakers.

In the 80’s there were Star Wars/Star Trek nerds. In the 90’s the computer programmer nerds began to take over. Now what?
Where is the next generation? Did Nerds finally build the time machine or warp beam that would free them from this world?
According to some research (my highly tuned skill of observation) I’ve come to a more realistic conclusion. THEY ARE AMONG US. WE ARE THEM. Nerdom has evolved and dare I say become cool. Knowing the latest websites or how to program a functional website or app won’t get you stuffed in a locker anymore.
In the entertainment world shows such as LOST and 24 have taken over for the lack of Star Trek. These shows are more hip and appeal to more of the population, but still draw in flocks of those utilizing the power of the pocket protector. However, I wouldn’t rule out that this guy led the Nerds to paradise with his new time machine.
