Movin’ On Up

Great news for those of you following my attempts to surpass Alex McArthur the actor in SERPs (search engine result pages). About 2 months ago this domain was floating around the 10th page for search results on “Alex McArthur”. At the time AlexMcArthur.com consisted of one static page with very limited content. I’ve since turned this site into a blog with SEO friendly pages and it quickly jumped to number 2 on most search engines. Also, I took some time to submit to numerous directories and acquire a handful of linkbacks. It will be interesting to see what this sites PR (page rank) is after the next update. I expect a small jump to 2, maybe 3 if I’m lucky.

As far as the Alex McArthur (me) vs Alex McArthur (actor) challenge goes it appears a long road lays ahead. I’m sure there will be ups and downs along the way, but hopefully before I die he will feel the pain of being #2. The actor’s fan site has numerous linkbacks that will take me some time to outdo. Why do people have to be so obsessed with movie actors? Quit linking to the schmuk! Desperado wasn’t that good!

This site is optimized fairly well. I’m sure I could do some tweaking and include a few more keywords, but my first priority is to get as many linkbacks as possible. Too bad I have a job and a family or I could spend all day getting links. This site isn’t very high on my to-do list so be patient. However, it will be interesting to see what happens over time.

Meeting with Cal in Vegas

The bowl plans for the cougars are finally complete. For the first time since 2001 BYU is going bowling. The opposing team is the Cal Bears of the Pac 10. If I remember correctly Cal was highly ranked in the preseason. They’ve had a few slip ups and completed the season at 7-4. Although BYU has a similar record I don’t know how likely a victory is considering our lack of success in bowl games.

BYU’s run defense has been much better than the passing D (not a hard task by any means), but I’m afraid Cal’s two outstanding rushers will wear us down. Cal is just a few yards short of having two 1,000 yard rushers.

Time to be optimistic - a win in the Las Vegas bowl would be great for the MWC against a solid Pac 10 school. It’s about time BYU had a bowl victory and the offense can put up points on just about anyone. I think this game depends on whether the cougar defense shows itself.

Holy War

Blue vs. Red.

How I love this rivalry. I can’t wait to take my seat in Lavell Edwards Stadium tomorrow wearing my good ol’ #8 jersey.

This game should be interesting considering the Cougar defense knows nothing about the Yewts QB besides a couple of plays. Also, Gooch and Bills are out making our secondary even weaker. As much as I would like to see the Cougs drop 70 I think it will be closer than most think.

BYU 38
Utah 17

Go Cougs!
